About this route
Split → Stari Grad
Stari Grad is one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in Europe, founded by ancient Greek settlers more than 2,400 years ago. It sits on the north coast of Hvar island at the head of a long natural inlet, and its harbour is the main arrival point for the Jadrolinija car ferry from Split. Our private speedboat makes the same crossing in about half the time.
We depart from Split’s Riva waterfront and cross the open water, passing the outer edge of the Brač channel before entering the Stari Grad inlet. The approach is calm and scenic — the town’s low white rooftops and stone waterfront come into view as you round the final bend. You arrive steps from the old town without ever having queued for a car ferry.
This transfer is a practical choice for guests with accommodation in Stari Grad or the central part of the island, including the UNESCO-protected Stari Grad Plain. If your final destination is Hvar Town, consider combining this route with an onward taxi, or book our direct Split–Hvar Town crossing instead. Every PROMARE transfer is private — your group, your boat, your timetable.
